Introduction:

The safety and well-being of all occupants in Counselling Hub Wales, Talbot Green and The Well, Bridgend are paramount. This document outlines the prescribed procedures to be followed in the event of a fire and the ensuing emergency evacuation. All individuals within the premises, including staff and guests, are required to comply with these measures for their own safety and that of others.

1. Early Detection and Reporting.

Recognise and report any potential fire hazards promptly. If you notice any signs of fire, immediately notify designated building management or emergency contacts.

2. Emergency Contacts.

Familiarise yourself with the emergency contact information prominently displayed throughout the building. In case of a fire, contact local emergency services promptly by dialling the appropriate emergency number.

3. Familiarisation with Exits.

Be aware of the location of emergency exits on your floor. These exits are clearly marked and regularly maintained to ensure they are accessible. Memorise the primary and alternative evacuation routes.

4. Firefighting Equipment.

If it is safe to do so, utilise the provided firefighting equipment. Staff members trained in the proper use of fire extinguishers will assist. Do not attempt to fight the fire if it puts your safety at risk.

5. Smoking Policy.

Smoking or vabing is strictly prohibited within the building. Use designated smoking areas outside the premises, and dispose of cigarette butts appropriately.

6. Evacuation drills.

Participate in regular fire evacuation drills to familiarise yourself with the evacuation procedures. These drills are designed to ensure a calm and organised evacuation in case of a real emergency.

7. Alarm Activation.

Immediately evacuate the building upon hearing the fire alarm. Treat every fire alarm as a real emergency.

8. Calm Evacuation.

Exit the building calmly, using the nearest safe exit. Do not use elevators during a fire; use stairwells.

If you require assistance or encounter someone who needs help during evacuation, inform designated staff or use a buddy system to ensure everyone is safely evacuated.

10. Assembly Points.

Proceed to the designated assembly points outside the building. Do not leave the assembly point until a headcount is conducted to ensure everyone is accounted for.

11. Emergency Services Notification.

Once safely evacuated, call emergency services to report the fire. Provide relevant information as requested.

12. Re-Entry Procedures.

Do not re-enter the building until authorised by building management or emergency services. Follow instructions provided by authorities.

13. Communication.

Stay informed through communication channels established by building management. Follow the instructions promptly.

This plan is subject to annual review and revision. Changes may be made based on feedback, alterations to the building layout, or other relevant factors.
